The crew on board Draken is a team of 34 people, men, and women from all over the world. A mix of age, gender, nationality, and background all contribute to a great atmosphere on board.

There are two categories of crew onboard:

  • Professional Crew

  • Deckhand Crew

Professional crew (paid positions)

The professional crew is about 7-8 people onboard Draken.

Requirements:

  • Able Seaman (minimum)

  • STCW Basic Safety

  • Medical Certificate (STCW)

  • Documented tall ship sailing experience

Recruiting status & process
We continuously accept applications to join our professional crew. But please note that we will not start accepting until we have a plan for an upcoming expedition.

Deckhand crew (volunteer positions)

Onboard Draken is about 20 deckhand crew at one time. The sailing season is divided into different sailing legs, and each sailing leg is about two weeks long. The Deckhand crew is recruited to the different sailing legs. You can volunteer on board for one or several sailing legs.
We prefer deckhands with previous tall ship sailing experience, but it is not required.

Requirements:

  • 18 years and older

  • Good physical and mental health

Recruiting status & process

We haven't started recruiting deckhands yet. This process will begin once we have finalized our plans. However, you're welcome to fill out our declaration of interest form, so we can notify you when we open up the applications.
